Developing, Empowering, and Releasing God's servants in the Czech Republic
Dear CzechMate Prayer Partners,
“Do you want a blue or red cast?” This was the question that faced our
12-year old son Alex this past week in the doctor’s office. At our Solid
Rock English Weekend this past weekend, Alex was trying his skills on a
slackline (you can look on YouTube for how they work). As Alex discovered,
even a short fall from a line less than a foot off the ground can have
consequences that change your lifestyle for awhile...like learning to eat
with your left hand...doing school work as a lefty...not having to practice
violin for the next 5 weeks (at first Alex was excited, but then realized he
might miss the violin!)...not playing basketball or floor-hockey during the
week... The cast is one of those new kind that allow him to get it wet, so
Alex won’t need to be missing out on regular baths! Now THAT was
disappointing to him!
The Solid Rock English Weekend was super! Thank you for your prayers! About
18 Czech students, all unbelievers but 1-2, came together in a scouting
cabin deep in the Czech woods. Mornings were focused upon practicing English
skills (reading, writing, speaking, pronunciation), and the evenings were
led by an American teenage rock band who weekly lead worship for
international students in Prague. I was so excited how God used that group
of teenagers (3 young men, 2 young ladies) to minister to their peers
through music, playing sports together, helping with English classes,
sharing their faith in Christ, just basically “hanging out” with them... I
was grateful to our Lord for bringing them to share the Good News with these
Czech teens, who maybe have heard the Gospel enough from “old foggies” like
me... :-)
Joshua Team is a gathering of Central European pastors, ReachGlobal (EFCA)
missionaries, and EFCA pastors gifted in specific areas of ministry. The
concept was born from the desire of GLD District Superintendent Rick
Thompson, to strategically bring together these groups of people to “sharpen
one another”, share best practices, and develop on-going learning
communities. From Monday to Wednesday, this week, I’ll gather with this
group to discuss leadership principles from Scripture and life experiences.
On Thursday and Friday, we’ll attend together the Evangelical Theological
Conference taking place here in Prague.
Our Prague City Team (EFCA) will gather together, Nov 13-17, for our yearly
Compass planning meetings. Founded upon our times of worship, prayer, and
seeking God’s presence, our City Team members will gather together to
re-evaluate and discuss the most important elements of ministry that we do
here in the Czech Republic. Our goal from the meetings is to come away with
God’s plans for how and where He would desire that we would focus our
energies and resources in the upcoming year. A well-prepared team from
Kingswood Bible Church in Texas will be joining us to minister the Word, as
well as provide excellent programming for our children.
Prayer Requests:
Pray for God to cause His Eternal Word to sprout within the hearts and minds
of the students who attended our Solid Rock English Weekend...you could pray
specifically for Kuba, Martin, Martin, Bara, Linda...
Please pray for the Holy Spirit to lead our Joshua Team meetings this
week...for Dale Hummel, pastor of Naperville EFC, our key speaker...pray for
good fellowship, clear and open communication, and courage for us ministers
to put into practice what God lays on our hearts.
Pray for our Prague City Team Compass Planning meetings, Nov 13-17...pray
for Ritch, as he follows God’s direction and is able to lead the
meetings...for times of worship in which we can truly meet our Lord...for
fruitful prayer and meeting times as we discern and plan to carry out God’s
direction for our Team of ReachGlobal (EFCA) missionaries here in Prague.
